CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER

The Children’s Advocacy Center is a place for
children ages birth-18 who are victims of child
abuse or neglect. A child receives an onsite,
                            head-to-toe forensic medical examination and
an interview by specially trained profession-
als. The Center’s investigative and therapeutic
process always focuses on what is best for the
child in a setting and with services that initiate
                            the healing process.

They offer intervention and treatment ser-
vices for children and non-offending parents
and family members, as well as education and
programs aimed at preventing further abuse.
There are parent groups, bilingual services, and support and advocacy
services. Fancy, a black Lab, is a favorite “staff” member. Kids have
access to healthy snacks and meals, toys and books, large stuffed bears
        and smaller stuffies.

Executive Director Tammi Pitzen says, “We have the best of the best and
provide the same services as any child abuse organization in the state.”
To abused children, that translates as a safe place where they will be
        heard and begin to heal.”
