MASLOW PROJECT
The Maslow Project provides goal-oriented, wraparound support ser-
vices to homeless children, ages 0-21, and their families. They are a non-
shelter resource center for kids when they can’t make it on their own,
whether through rebellion or unmanageable family situations. Upon
arrival, a young person is entitled to one-time services with no commit-
ment—a hot meal, snacks, clothing, a food box, hygiene products, job
and mental health counseling. The hope, however, is that they sign up for
case management guidance and assistance, which might include transpor-
tation to the DMV, making or getting to appointments, help receiving
appropriate services. Governmental and community agencies help make
the work possible, along with individuals who donate needed supplies and
funding. Collaboration between community partners provided a first-of-
its-kind opportunity to Maslow Project, as this fall they welcomed 12
case-managed families into a Permanent Supportive Housing program.
One of their proudest accomplishments for their students participating
in case management is a 98% graduation rate. The Maslow Project helps
kids take small steps that put them on the path to self-sufficiency.
