WOMEN’S HEALTH CENTER
OF SOUTHERN OREGON
Women’s Health Center of Southern Oregon
in Grants Pass serves all of Southern Oregon.
The center operates on the care team
model—schedulers, clinical support, medi-
cal assistants and physicians, nurse practi-
tioners or physician assistants in each team.
Teams work independently, though filling in
and helping where needed. Darcy Marvin is a
CCMA, with OBGYN being her passion. She
preps patients, settles them in a room, obtains
vitals, documents their health history, checks
meds, updates charts, reminds patients of
labs. Trained earlier as a phlebotomist, she can
do blood draws as well. Darcy ensures that
when her provider enters the exam room, he
has updated and accurate information about
the patient.
Fawn Jamison, one of several Clinical
Administrator/Schedulers, fields incoming
phone calls, transferring them so the person
receiving the call knows what to expect and
can assist the patient right away. She arranges
and rearranges patient’s appointments, some-
times determined by emergency surgeries
or births. The hard work involved in making
a day and a patient’s experience go smoothly
and seamlessly prompted Fawn to say, “We are
magic makers.” THE CENTER OPERATES
Darcy explained the “morning huddle.” Each ON THE CARE TEAM
care team reviews the day’s schedule, dis-
cussing patients needing extra time, noting
if there’s room for add-ons, and determining MODEL—SCHEDULERS,
any women in labor. This allows providers to
focus on patient care. Both Fawn and Darcy
say Women’s Health Center is an amazing CLINICAL SUPPORT,
place to work.
