The health care professionals at each Asante Family Birth Center understand the importance
and excitement of a new baby and are committed to helping your newborn make his or her
debut into the world.
At Asante Ashland Community Hospital — Oregon’s first hospital-based alternative birth
center — a holistic approach to patient care offers moms medical and low-intervention birth-
ing options such as natural childbirth and water birth. The hospital partners with certified nurse
midwives and trained doulas, and its complementary therapies include hydrotherapy, massage,
Reiki and music therapy.
In Josephine County, moms who deliver at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center can take com-
fort knowing they’ll have some of the best support for breastfeeding. The hospital is Oregon’s
first Baby-Friendly facility designated by the World Health Organization. That means lactation
consultants provide optimal support and education for moms who want to breastfeed. One of two water-

which houses Southern Oregon’s only neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The Family Birth
Center specializes in caring for moms experiencing premature delivery, multiple gestation
(more than twins), or a pregnancy complicated by disorders such as heart or liver disease.
Babies with congenital problems, born prematurely, or requiring long-term intravenous or anti-
biotic therapy are cared for in Asante Rogue Regional’s NICU by specialized doctors, nurses,
respiratory therapists and others.
In 2019, Asante Rogue Regional will provide 24/7 obstetric coverage by hospital-based labor-
ists and an OB emergency department located in the Family Birth Center. For moms in labor,
these physicians can perform triage, provide emergency services, admit, manage labor and
deliver babies.
