What a Christian Believes
If man is different in character and ability from everything else
on earth, what distinguishes him?
He is created by a direct act of God who can
supernaturally create. Genesis 5 v1 '...when God
created man, He made him in the likeness of God.'
The mode of creation is described in Gen2 v7 'the
Lord formed the man from the dust of the ground
and breathed into the man's nostrils the breath of
life, and the man became a living being.'
He is created in the divine image of God Genesis 1
v26 'Let us make man in our image and in our
likeness...'
Likeness. God is Spirit and invisible, Colossians 1 v15
'He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God...' No man
has seen God in this form. Therefore, likeness means man
was made to be like God morally. Also he was to share
fellowship with God. Genesis 3 v8, tells how God came to
walk with man in the Garden. 'The man and his wife
HEARD the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in
the garden....'
Man has been made with a threefold constitution,
BODY, SOUL & SPIRIT.
BODY.
Genesis 2 v7 'The Lord formed man from the dust of the
earth.'
The body is made up of five senses - hearing, seeing,
smelling, tasting and feeling (touching, not emotions).
