fulfil that purpose. It is impossible to put a value on a
vocation but it can be seen that happiness and fulfilment are
the rewards. Both of these are impossible to put a financial
benefit value on, money cannot buy either.
At the age of three the human child will have lost much of its
spiritual awareness, especially should it have parent who lack
such awareness. The role of the God parent, the spiritual
representative of God in the child's life is a very serious and
necessary position to have in any child's life. Unfortunately
the significance of this role has been lost and denigrated as
some honour recognising the position of those selected in the
lives of the parents and not necessarily in the child's. In other
older societies the holder of this role would have been referred
to as Grandfather or Grandmother, even though there may be
no family blood connection. It should be accepted that this
Godparent will undertake to care for the spiritual welfare of
the child and the parents by selecting this person will agree to
accept their assistance as such a person. Should the child have
any spiritual concerns then the parent can direct them to their
Godparent for assistance. The Godparent should also be
prepared to intercede with all authorities in the child's life on
the child's spiritual behalf. With this role firmly in place there
can be some functionality in the life of this child.
As we said the key word for this period in a child's life of
resignation. This is a sad time for any child as it suggests that
the child has given up on elements of it's life that it was
familiar with, namely its spiritual awareness. Spiritual
awareness can cause unwelcomed friction with the spiritually
