WAKE UP AND DO YOUR THING
What"s happening here? The clue is in time, place and taking it personally. The pessimist is saying to himself, !Bad things happen to me all the time, wherever I am. I"m unlucky.” No wriggle room there. The optimist"s self-talk is quite the opposite. Not all the time, no particular place, not my fault.
Optimism is a choice. It's a frame of mind—a habit. It's a way of looking at the world. And it can make all the difference in how you control your feelings. When you're optimistic, you tend to see the good in people and in situations. You believe that things will work out for the best. You're resilient in the face of setbacks. And you have hope for the future. Optimism is also good for your health.
Optimism is something that you can choose to cultivate. Every day, make a conscious effort to look for the good in people and in situations. Focus on what's going right in your life, rather than on what's wrong. And remember that even when things are tough, they will eventually get better.
So, whistle and sing happy tunes to yourself for a few minutes every day and watch your life transform for the better.
Here are some stats published by Time Magazine in late 2021.
• Optimists are 40% more likely than pessimists to get a job promotion in the next year
• Pessimists report feeling stressed about money 145 days more than optimists in any given year
