the coronavirus kills are people who are elderly
or have preexisting conditions. Why didn’t our
country shut down for the H1N1 virus, that was
predominately killing people younger than sixty
years old, and it has shut down for the coronavirus
that is doing the opposite? Could there be another
agenda at play? The truth is that there is a huge
problem in our country that is having a devastating

impact, and I am not referring to the coronavirus.
The media perpetuates fear, and in doing so, has
done significant damage to our great nation. It isn’t
the virus that is killing the economy, it’s the fear of
the virus that is killing the economy.
All you have to do is look on Facebook or turn on
CNN and you will quickly recognize what I am talking

about. If you look up headlines today, you will see
articles like “Coronavirus Live Updates: Grim Models
Project High US Toll in Months-Long Crisis” or
                                                             65
“Live updates: More people have died in the US from
the coronavirus than in the 9/11 attacks.” Almost

all the headlines in the news communicate a bleak
and hopeless future, perpetuating fear and giving
lawmakers more power to take away our liberties and
keep us locked in our homes.

Time Magazine has taken a stab at discussing how
social media is impacting our fears and response to
the coronavirus. They talk about how “social media
