carefully carrying large pieces of wood with another

colonist. He dropped the wooden planks on the dock

next to the boat. He was also carrying two hammers and

several large nails.

Now, the boat was already half sunk into the

water. This was largely due to the number of holes in the

bottom of the boat. There were also holes in the sales.

“Okay chaps, you,” the colonist said pointing to

Al. “You take some of the planks and you,” he said

pointing to Bernard. “You nail in the planks while he is

holding them up. He instructed Hugh and Thomas to do

the same. They did this with success and within an hour,

about four of the boat’s major holes were repaired. While

they were doing this, the colonist, who introduced

himself as Richard, walked away with the two other

colonists. By the time they got back, there were minimal
