“It is there,” Richard said, directing to a quite
large ladder going up to a small, circular platform that
attached to the sails. Coincidentally, it attached to the
sails that had the holes in them. So, Hugh climbed up,
very slowly and carefully. He was carrying the pieces of
fabric, and sewing items he required to fix the sails.
When he got to the top of the “crows nest,” he began to
fix the tears in the sail, one by one.
During this, Al and Bernard were still fixing the
bottom of the boat and Thomas was assisting them in
doing so.
Hugh was fixing the sails quite successfully. He
now had only two more to do. However, one of them
was much farther out. Hugh fixed the closer sail first.
Then, when he reached out to the last tear in the sail, he
