                  B.   Present continuous: questions and negatives

                  1.   Questions (be + S + V-ing, wh- word + be + S + V –ing)
                      Put be before the subject to form a question. The wh- word is the first word in the
                      sentence.
                                        The teacher is explaining the lesson
                                 Is the teacher explaining the lesson?
                         What is the teacher explaining?
                  2.   Negatives (S + be + not + V-ing)
                      Put not after be to form the negative.
                         My brother is not studying in New York this year.

                  B1.   Change each sentence to a present continuous Yes/No question. Then change it
                        to a wh- question. Change the time expression to now   .

                   1.  Did you study Chinese last year?
                   2.  Your little sister is playing at her friend’s house.

                   3.  The Morgans watched a good television program last night.
                   4.  Ann usually stays at the Holiday Inn.


                  B2.   Change each sentence to the negative present continuous.

                   1.  The students are taking an exam now.

                   2.  Paul is working in Europe this year.
                   3.  Ms. Fiori is visiting her sister this week.

                   4.  Tony is sitting by the window.


                  B3.   Write two yes/no questions, two wh- questions, and two negative sentences in
                       the present continuous tense.


                  C.   Very  and too  (too + adjective + too + V = too young to drive).

                  Very makes an adjective stronger.
