W&RSETA CEO concludes 2021/22 stakeholder

     engagements



         s part of his main priorities when he took office three years ago, the W&RSETA CEO Tom Mkhwanazi has made concerted efforts
     Ato engage with decision makers and key role players in the implementation of skills development programmes in the sector.

     Meetings were held with senior officials from companies and institutions of learning to engage on topical issues such as unemployment
     and improving learning provision as well as the contribution of companies towards growing the South African economy. Mkhwanazi
     used these engagements to also visit learners on various programmes.

     On 28 February and 01 March 2022, the CEO was in the Northern Cape, and engaged with stakeholder companies, Office of the
     Premier, Northern Cape Community Education and Training College and the Sol Plaatjie University, among other stakeholders in
     Kimberley. The second day of the visit was spent in Upington visiting Superspar Kalahari, Lumber City and the Northern Cape Rural
     TVET College.

























         Northern Cape stakeholder engagements and visits



     The 2012/22  programme was concluded in the Free State on
     16 and 17 March 2022. The CEO visited two of the W&RSETA’s
     large companies, Bibi Cash  and Carry  Supermarkets and TFS
     Wholesalers in QwaQwa, Phuthaditjaba. A stakeholder session
     with participating companies, Office of the Premier and institutions
     of learning brought the visit to a close.







                                                                    Free State stakeholder visits and engagements


                                                              Since July 2021, the CEO has met with various stakeholders from
                                                              the W&RSETA’s large companies and institutions  of learning in
                                                              Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, and Free
                                                              State.

                                                              Stakeholders expressed their appreciation to the CEO for taking
                                                              time from his demanding schedule to engage with them on the
                                                              challenges, achievements, and opportunities to make a meaningful
                                                              contribution to skills  development in the Wholesale and Retail
                                                              Sector. Mkhwanazi was equally appreciative of the opportunity to
                                                              meet with the stakeholders and for the first-hand experience of the
                                                              W&RSETA’s work in partnership with stakeholders to provide skills
                                                              development opportunities particularly to the youth.

                                                              A full programme which will focus on feedback from the previous

                                                              in April and will cover all provinces.
