Rebuilding
South Africa
he shocking events of the unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and
Gauteng earlier this month has been most demoralising
T and damaging.
We lament the damage that has been caused to countless lives
in the middle of a devastating pandemic that we are still trying
to deal with and recover from. The acts of violence and looting
on businesses have dealt a heavy blow to the reconstruction and
recovery of our country. As our wholesale and retail companies
count the losses of the recent weeks’ events, we are concerned
about the impact that this has on skills development in our sector
since these companies open their doors to thousands of young
people who need skills to enter the job market.
The ripple effects of these terrible events not only unfortunate, but
will also will linger for a long time.
We thank you, our stakeholder companies and your employees
for the courage you have demonstrated during this period to
Message from the protect lives and livelihoods. It goes without saying that we wish
you well as you pick up the pieces and rebuild your businesses.
