Foreword
Art creation has always been full of marvels and wonders. We can have a glimpse of the creators' mind from the content of the works.
What they see, think, love, and enjoy are naturally revealed without reservation. Art is also like a haven to absorb all kinds of states and
emotions in life. Whether it is infinite happiness or extreme resentment, it can be released, soothed, and healed in the process of art creation.
In the same way, Lu Kuan-hui's painting accompanies, listens to, and finally speaks up for her.
"In a moment of pure thought, lotuses bloom everywhere; each flower, a world of its own; and each leaf, a Tathagata." The famous
poem written by the lay Buddhist Pangyun in the Tang Dynasty (740-808) is a perfect exemplification of Lu's art. In the poem, we can have
a glimpse of the wider world and deeper content from the small things. They are the start to explore the world and personal temperament
through everything and the door and window to the inner world. The world can be perceived from a seemingly insignificant or small part.
Lu's painting, like a flower and a leaf in the poem, embodies her views on the world in the brilliant colors.
Poetry is the voiced painting, and painting is the voiceless poetry. Like poetry, Lu's painting of different styles and features express the
inner admiration for the beauty of the world through infinite imagination. The beautiful world in Lu's eyes is like the fragrant plum blossoms
that have lived through the bone-chilling winter. All hardships in life have transformed into the brilliant colors of the world in which Lu
achieves her imagination and pursuit for beauty in mind.
Lu returned to the campus in her sixties and was admitted to the In-Service Master's Program of Department of Fine Arts of Tunghai
University. In school, she worked diligently and was never absent. She worked hard and faced the heavy schoolwork together with many
young classmates. Her learning attitude is really touching. The solo exhibition "Brilliant Universe" is the result of her hard work in Tunghai
University's Department of Fine Arts. Her works are full of power and brilliance. As her advisor who gives professional art lessons, I really
admire her spirit of pursuing knowledge! Lu is going to hold a grand solo exhibition at Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center, and she asked
me to write a foreword for her. Here I express my sincere blessings and encouragements in this foreword.
