Curriculum Vitae — Wang, Hsien-Chih



                             Master Wang,Hsien-Chih is skilled in various lacquer art techniques, particularly in maki-e.
                         Maki-e is a significant technique in traditional lacquer craftsmanship, traces its origins to the
                         ancient “pingtuo” method. Over time, it has been refined into a more delicate and elegant form,
                         often regarded as the literati painting of lacquer art. His works often draw inspiration from familiar
                         motifs in Taiwan, such as native flowers and birds, folk imagery, and auspicious totems to display
                         a profound cultural heritage and refined artistic sensibility.
                             Master Wang excels at using everyday materials, skillfully employing innovative techniques
                         to apply to every work, which exhibits outstanding technical sophistication and a refined sense
                         of craftsmanship. His works have consistently received awards in major art competitions across
                         Taiwan, earning widespread recognition. In 2011, he was officially recognized by the Bureau of
                         Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, as a Preserver of the traditional art of “Lacquer Craft –
                         Maki-e.” This designation affirms his role as a key inheritor and promoter of the craft.
