1. Glycoside formation (acetal formation ): e.g., Methyl glucoside.

• Formed by a reaction between the anomeric carbon (in the form of

hemiacetal or hemiketal) with alcohols.

• The new carbon-oxygen bond is called the glycosidic linkage, does not

show phenomenon of mutarotation
