Andrew Russell appointed to HDI Capital Area Board of Directors

Andrew Russell, a Program Manager at the Library of Congress (LOC) under MIL's Information
Technology Sector, has been appointed to serve as the Vice President of Membership for the Help
Desk Institute (HDI) Capital Area local chapter's Board of Directors. Andrew has been active in
the HDI Capital Area chapter since 2017 and utilizes resources that HDI offers to bring continual
service improvement opportunities to the LOC contracts and team members. Working alongside the
management team at the LOC, Andrew identifies ways that HDI can help inform decisions related to
staffing, standard operating procedures, service level agreements, and key performance indicators and
measurements. In addition to operational decisions, Andrew is also involved in selecting staff to attend
local and national HDI events that are geared toward professional development and employee morale.
"I am very excited for the opportunity to serve on the HDI Capital Area Board of Directors. HDI's benefits align with
the development goals that we have for many of our team members. When working with staff members to develop
an IDP, one of my first thoughts is whether or not HDI has an offering that meets their need. Having a voice to
influence how HDI's local events and offerings can be constructed so that MIL staff receive maximum benefit is very
exciting and I look forward to being involved in those discussions." - Andrew Russell
"Andrew has been actively involved with the Capital Area chapter for several years. We’re happy to now have him
serving alongside us an officer, where he can use his passion for the service and support industry and great ideas to
help advance our mission." - Monica Morrison, President, HDI Capital Area Chapter
Andrew 's goal is to strive to ensure that membership in HDI Capital Area exceeds the expected return on
investment to employees and employers. HDI is the world’s largest technical service and support association, and
focuses on creating connections with people though events, services, and resources. The network of local chapters
is a convenient and dynamic way to collaborate with like-minded professionals in the IT Service Management and
Technical Support communities. HDI Capital Area membership provides access to free or discounted local events,
training and conference discounts, access to the HDI job board, and much more.
