MIL Annual Awards & 40th Anniversary Celebrations
Each year, MIL celebrates the company’s greatest asset, the people of MIL, with an annual awards
celebration. Charleston’s team hosted their awards at the Daniel Island Club this year which provided
the perfect venue for the festivities. This year, MIL also celebrates its 40th Anniversary and our
team was able to center the awards ceremony around this extraordinary achievement as an entire
organization. The club provided a wide variety of small plate stations and a beautiful waterfront patio
where guests enjoyed watching a private cigar rolling demonstration by Ed Lugo and sampling the
cigars if they were interested. Mr. Lugo provided thoughtfully paired cigars to our menu and drink
selections. Others chose to dance the night away to the eclectic sounds of our DJ and snap photos
for future “friend-frames” in the photobooth. The highlights of the evening were watching Marisa
Daley, John Degni, and Peg Kendra talk about our awardees and honor them in front of their peers.
The leadership team then showered the crowd with opportunities to win fun prizes ranging from
movie theater packages, a Charleston Brunch basket with local foods, spirits, and spices, and two
free days of PTO—which seemed to be the crowd favorite. Members from our corporate leadership
teams traveled down to join the fun as well! The Charleston Social Committee did an incredible job
in making this year’s celebration so “extra”!
In the DC Area, MIL invited our employees and a guest to enjoy a night of dinner, dancing, and
celebrating. The Great-Gatsby themed event was held at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium with
over 375 in attendance – ready to celebrate like it was 1920! After cocktail hour, the night continued
with speeches from both Chief Operating Officers, Ed Greer and Marisa Daley. After honoring each
awardee, MIL employees and guests were invited to enjoy dinner and an array of dessert stations,
edible cookie and hot chocolate photobooths, and more! At the end, the live band stole the show. The
dance floor was full, and it was a night representing the Roaring 20s.
Be sure to be on the look-out for more MIL 40th celebrations this year, including our annual Spring
Celebration and Crab Feast later this year.
