MIL cares

MIL silent auction makes a joyful

        noise

        By Erin Tice
On December 10, 2019 at Elements Eatery and Mixology, the
REPS Sector held their annual Holiday Open House. The Open
House is an opportunity for customers and partners working with
MIL to come and enjoy the holiday atmosphere.
Each year at the Open House, the REPS Sector hosts a silent
auction with proceeds benefiting local community organizations.
Employees and their family members create items or provide
services to be auctioned off. Some of the items that were in this
year’s auction included: custom holiday placemats, handmade
quilts, custom wooden signs, handmade benches, holiday signs,
dog themed baskets, and much more!
This year’s silent auction had two beneficiaries, H.O.P.E and Back
to the Wild Rescue and Rehab. H.O.P.E is an organization made
up of volunteers that help the local community members in need.
Whether it is help with feeding families, or paying a heating bill,
H.O.P.E is there to help the community members in need.
Back to the Wild Rescue and Rehab, MIL’s other beneficiary this
year, helps rehabilitate injured, orphaned, and displaced wildlife
for release into appropriate habitats, and to educate the public on
        local wildlife.
Thanks to the silent auction, MIL raised $3,372 and was able to
        donate $1,686 to each organization.
Thank you to the entire REPS Sector for spreading their holiday
cheer to the Southern Maryland Community!

FAS Supports KSEF and Kamp Kappa

        By Hector Cooley
MIL’s Financial and Accounting Services (FAS) Sector has once again stepped in to support the Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund
(KSEF) and Kamp Kappa 2020! FAS first supported this community endeavor in 2017.
KSEF is the scholarship arm of the Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. KSEF is a nonprofit organization
established and dedicated to awarding scholarships to deserving graduates of District of Columbia and Northern Virginia public and
public charter high schools. Since its founding over 30 years ago, KSEF has awarded ~ $2 million in college scholarships to close to 700
        deserving students.
KSEF also sponsors Kamp Kappa, a six-day outdoor and educational program that provides 50 young men from the DC metro area
with the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Camp William B. Snyder in Haymarket, VA. While exploring the park’s rustic environment,
area youth participate in team and character building exercises designed to foster respect for themselves and for others. Along with a
team of professional counselors, the Kamp Kappa staff are augmented by volunteers from Kappa Alpha Psi, who help to
        manage the camp’s day-to-day activities.
MIL employee Hector Cooley is an active member of the Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi
Fraternity and brought this organization to the attention of FAS. The FAS Sector is honored and pleased to support this
organization in their mission of awarding scholarships to deserving graduates of DC and NoVA public and public charter
        high schools.
