Bree brings to her position years of federal contracting and banking experience as well as a
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and minor in HR Management. When asked
what readied her for the challenges of her new Team Lead position, Bree responded, “My prior
roles as a Senior HR Business Partner at AVIAN and BAE has prepared me for this role along
with other lead roles I have taken on, dealing with special projects for the companies. I am
currently in a master’s program at UMGC, which is extremely beneficial in helping me grow
and develop additional skills that will allow me to become a better partner for the company.”
When not meeting the diverse HR needs of MIL’s expanding workforce, Bree’s life outside of
work revolves around her family. With a 12-year-old that plays basketball and lacrosse, a 2-year-
old that keeps her busy, and for this school year, an Italian exchange student to host, Bree
admits that her free time, is their time.
                                    Kayla Lyon

Kayla is serving as a Procurement Specialist I in MIL’s Procurement Department supporting
the company’s extensive procurement and purchasing needs, with a special emphasis on
purchases under $10K. Kayla also supports contract-level buys, including for MIL’s Navy
contracts with the Naval Air Systems Command HQ in SoMD. Hailing from the area, Kayla
is a graduate of the College of Southern Maryland where she received an Associate degree in
Business Administration. Before joining MIL, Kayla worked as a Front House Manager at a
local area restaurant. Kayla decided to make MIL her new home because of the atmosphere
and work environment and hopes to learn new skills and continue to develop existing skills
to progress in her new position. “I am looking forward to growing in my career with MIL and
working alongside my coworkers who have already made me feel so welcomed and a part of
                                    the MIL family.”
In her free time, Kayla enjoys hanging out with family and friends, traveling and experiencing
new places, and doting on her two dogs: a basset hound named Copper, and Belle, a black lab.
                                    Mike Ogletree

Another SoMD resident, current student at the College of Southern Maryland, and 10-year
veteran of the restaurant business, Mike is also supporting the Procurement Department in
a Vendor Liaison II position. In this role, Mike will support the purchasing and contracts
departments by interfacing with vendors, entering vendor data into the purchasing system, and
conducting vendor information updates, internal audits, and monthly FFATA reporting. When
asked what brought him to MIL, he remarked that MIL’s Top Workplace awards contributed
to his decision to join the MIL team. He stated that after interviews with his team members,
he knew that MIL was a company he wanted to be a part of. Adding, “I hope to add my skills
to my team and continue to foster a productive and engaging work culture.” Mike also shared
his goal to continue developing his customer service and managerial skills while at MIL,
and to learn new procurement skills and techniques as well as effective business strategies.
When asked about how his past experiences helped shape his approach to his new job, Mike
noted, “My pervious job was restaurant management, and I am currently pursuing a degree
in psychology. My experience in customer service and interest in psychology has helped me
interact with new and current vendors as well as being able to juggle multiple tasks at once and
                                    manage time effectively.”
Outside of his workday, Mike is an avid musician and videogame enthusiast who enjoys
playing guitar and “upgrading” his PC.
