 Genes determine how fast your body metabolize medicine and how fast that medicine

                 gets into your bloodstream.

 If your doctor knows your genetic profile, he or she may be able to determine if a
particular medicine is a good match for you.

 There is strong scientific evidence for the use of pharmacogenetics testing in some
                 forms of cancer treatment, depression.

 Modern genetic methods have identified alterations in drug-metabolizing enzymes,
drug transporters, and drug receptors that, at least in part, explain many extremes in

                 drug response.

 This has given birth to the field of pharmacogenetics, which seeks to characterize

inter-individual drug response variability at the genes level.

 Pharmacogenomics, is often used interchangeably but includes the study of the genetic

basis of disease and the pharmacological impact of drugs on the disease process.
