Breaking the Curse of Poverty  David K. Owusu


                  “I the Lord, I do not change. So you descendants of Jacob are not
                  destroyed. Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned
                  away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me and
                  I will return to you” says the Lord Almighty...will a mere mortal
                  man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, How are we robbing
                  you?’ “In tithes and offerings” Malachi 3:6-9 (NIV),


               More of this will be discussed in the subsequent chapters


               Thirdly, giving expresses our gratitude to what God has already made
               available and in so doing we express that it is He that sustains us
               and provides for us. It is He that gives the power to make wealth.

                  “But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is
                  He who gives you power to get wealth. That He may establish

                  His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day”
                  Deuteronomy 8:18 (AMPC)


               If we acknowledge Him, then it is easy for us to give that acceptable
               offering that is pleasing to the Lord, and the blessing will follow
               any giving that is done with the understanding that it is He that
               has made it possible to even have what we have in the first instance.
               God wants us to perceive our wealth as a holy substance that we
               offer to Him in Worship.  It’s important for us to understand that
               our worship to God is incomplete without us giving our substance.


               When we give our money to God, we are giving a very important
               part of our lives, as money is representative of the labor of our hands.
               Therefore, when we give money, we are giving Him our Time, our
