18th century
Deftly carved as a shallow oval dish with a shallow
recessed base and two chilong dragons clambering
around the longer sides with faces and front paws
peeping over the rim, the interior with a pearl issuing
two fire scrolls, wood stand

A FINE WHITE AND RUSSET JADE CARVING
OF A LOTUS ROOT
18th century
The rhizome naturalistically detailed with constricted
knotty sections wreathed by furled leaves, an 320
attendant seed-pod and a lotus bud issuing from
curling stems, the polished stone of white tone
accented with russet veins cleverly used to enhance
the lotus flower, carved wood stand.

wishes for happiness and fruitfulness in marriage.
