                                                             Finely decorated on the interior and exterior with blossoming lotus
                                                             radiating leaves and tendrils, the mouth rim set with two vertical gilt-
                                                             metal posts, each terminating with a domed finial, one side of the body
                                                             with a gilt-metal looped dragon-head handle, all on a bright turquoise
                                                             ground and supported on three characteristic splayed legs decorated
                                                             with stylised ‘C’-scrolls.

                                                             Decorated with taotie masks and vertical metal flanges on the mid-
                                                             sections, top and bottom with plantain-leaf lappets reserved with
                                                             lotus sprays and stylised foliage, on grounds of large polychrome
                                                             lotus blooms and scrolling leafy stems, the mouth interiors similarly
                                                             decorated.

                                                             A RARE ARCHAISTIC CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL AND GILT-BRONZE
                                                             ‘PHOENIX’ SQUARE VASE, FANG GU
                                                             Yongzheng/Qianlong
                                                             The central part enamelled on each face with an archaistic taotie mask
                                                             separated by flanges down the centre and at the edges, the upper
                                                             flaring section similarly enamelled with pairs of archaistic phoenix with
                                                             pink heads and stylised green scrolling tails also separated by flanges,
                                                             the spreading base with pendent plantain leaves.
