DATED QIANLONG CYCLICAL GENGZI YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO ᬚ⯣᱙ד卿ӮדԠӲ卿᧦Ӵᇑ㙣卿ᇵಗ▔ࣻǯ
1780 AND OF THE PERIOD ᬚ⯣᱙דچᝠ卿߿ಗⲋὍᇵՔὍǯ
Rendered on a deep-blue paper, first outlined in black ink then Քᝠߝ▭卿ـ㙣᧦Ӵ卿⏜ᑨᇵ۔卿࣊ݪ᯳ⲋǯ
filled with gilt paint of various tones, the painting depicts a sal tree ⪛ۿ㇛卿ᔆ㿩ᘰ卿ቲٿ㗪卿ጮᚚᾅǯ
between rocks, below four imperial inscriptions written by the
༵᫉㬦ᡜ卿⊇ᅠ㙠❏卿Ӯ⡰ᙆ卿ࢨ䁬ᝩルǯ
Emperor Qianlong dedicated to the Sixth Panchen Lama from
ᚚᯧᝯ卿ᬚ㕇卿 㬳Ӭ㬳Հ卿ࢇㄴὍ௬ǯ
right to left in Chinese, Tibetan, Manchu and Mongolian, each
followed by a circular seal, Qian, and a square seal, Long. A further Գ㪏ᄗຽօސӳᱏᇙ✖༵ↄ◲⪛ۿԆ㍵
seal, guxi tianzi zhi bao, ‘Treasure of the Son of Heaven at seventy‘, 㟊ࣇ厍 ԳǮ㪏
is inscribed between the branches, with two further seals on the ऒ☮ຽԠ༾
lower right, yuhe qiyou, ‘Extending like harmonious qi’, yijing

miao kanhui, ‘Quietude makes the mystery fathomable‘, one to the ዪ㬱൘ᝯ
lower left, shebi ouzhi jijian, ‘Dabbling in brushwork at occasional
ᱳ✖ڮٿᄃ㧿
leisure’, with a further three-character seal impression on the far
lower left corner, Gong qinwang, ‘Prince Kung’. The painting is ቯㇼℳ
mounted in its original format within a gilt woven blue-ground
