A GROUP OF SMALL JADE AND AGATE SCHOLAR’S OBJECTS
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The first is a greyish and celadon jade brush rest, 17th-18th century, carved and pierced in
the form of a mountain boulder, the stone of a pale celadon tone with mottled inclusions.
The second is a white jade brush washer, 18th century, carved in the form of a lingzhi
borne on a branching stem bearing further smaller heads of lingzhi and with a bat resting
on the rim, the stone of an even pale, greyish white tone with a few dark inclusions.
The third is an agate ink palette, 18th century, carved in naturalistic form of a lotus leaf
growing from a short stem. The fourth is a miniature agate carving of a lady and a child
resting on a leaf-form mat.
Largest: 3 √ in. (9.9 cm.) long, hongmu stand, wood boxes (two Japanese) (4)
