FAMILLE ROSE ‘OPERA’ DISH
JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN
IRON RED AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
The dish is finely enamelled to the interior
with a central medallion depicting an
opera scene in a fenced garden in which
the female lead is dancing, surrounded
by six female musicians playing various
instruments. The well is decorated with
detached floral blooms against a lavender-
blue ground incised with an allover
feathery scroll pattern which is repeated on
the exterior.

A FINE FAMILLE ROSE ‘MOUNTAIN STROLL’
BOWL
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN IRON RED AND OF
THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
The bowl is delicately enamelled to one side depicting a scholar
seated in a rickshaw, gazing at the landscape beyond, while the
rickshaw puller behind takes a rest. The scene takes inspiration
from the poem ‘Shanxing’ (Mountain Stroll) by the Tang-dynasty
poet Du Mu (803-circa 852)
