                                                             vajraparyankasana on a snow lion throne draped with a
                                                             cloth depicting a dharma wheel, with each hand holding
                                                             an attribute, framed by an ornamented aureole with a
                                                             garuda at the apex with arms outstretched, surrounded
                                                             by further deities
                                                             41 by 62 cm, 16⅛ by 24⅜ in.

                                                             Collection of Astrid Ibsen-Sørensen (1892-1987), collected in
                                                             China before 1936.

                                                             TIBET, 18TH/19TH CENTURY

                                                             distemper on cloth
                                                             with the preferred disciple Kedrup shown in the lower left
                                                             hand corner outside the Ganden monastery performing
                                                             a ritual offering after the death of his master Tsongkhapa
                                                             during which Tsongkhapa suddenly manifests himself
                                                             to him on a cloud depicted to the right of the painting,
                                                             with the paradise of Maitreya depicted in the upper right
                                                             hand corner and the realm of gods in the upper left hand
                                                             corner
                                                             66 by 42.8 cm, 26 by 16⅞ in.
