                 yuan dynasty
                 deeply carved in ‘pommel scroll’ pattern through layers of black and red
                 lacquer, black lacquered interior marked with ‘wu zhou’ inscription.

                                  A Chinese cinnabar lacquer box and cover
                                  late ming dynasty
                                  with four carved male figures set in a natural landscape scene with
                                  mountains, sky, trees and rocks, Greek Fret design and a heart floral design
                                  surround the cover scene, incised weavelike pattern is found down to the
                                  cover meeting the base and extending on the base to the foot’s border.

                                                                                             ‘bridges’ table screen
                                                                                             late ming dynasty
                                                                                             one side painted in polychrome with
                                                                                             scenes depicting scholars shown at
                                                                                             various pursuits in pavilions, the reverse
                                                                                             painted in shades of gold with the
                                                                                             landscape of Chunhu (pure lake) with
                                                                                             commoners amid and involved in
                                                                                             various activities, inscribed on the upper
                                                                                             right corner with a short poem.
