AN IRON-RED AND ANHUA-DECORATED ‘BATS’ DISH
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The fat, everted rim is decorated in iron-red with a ‘hundred bats’ band. The
interior is decorated in thread relief to the centre with a roundel enclosing a
shou roundel which is encircled by two incised four-clawed dragons striding
amidst clouds within a border of classic scroll and a stylized scroll band at the
cavetto. There is an apocryphal Chenghua mark to the base.
