AN ORDER OF THE DOUBLE DRAGON
MEDAL
LATE QING DYNASTY
Transitional type (circa 1895-1900), Second Class, First
Grade, breast star in silver, silver-gilt and highlighted with
blue and turquoise enamels, applied with two silver dragons
surrounding a central engraved coral, the reverse plain and
fitted with a shaped hinged vertical brooch-pin
9.5 cm, 3¾ in.
PROVENANCE
Awarded to Gustav Detring (1842-1913), and thence by
descent. This star appears to be that worn by Detring in the
portrait photograph as illustrated on p. 105, Fig. 2
