the rounded sides rising from a short foot to an everted barbed
rim, the slightly recessed central medallion freely carved with
a landscape scene detailed with tall pine trees, encircled by
stylised floral sprays at the well and repeated on the exterior,
the rim bordered by a scrolling foliage pattern, covered overall
in a thick celadon glaze leaving a ring on the underside burnt
buff-orange during firing, the foot inscribed in Arabic script
(Sultan Sulaiman Shikoh, 1635 – 1662) Mark

PROVENANCE
Acquired by the family of the present owner during the early
20th century.
Thence by descent.
The five-drilled-dots pattern on the base of the present dish is
also found on celadon wares in the collection of Topkapi Saray
Museum, Istanbul, such as a Longquan charger decorated
with peony, attributed to the late 14 to early 15 century,
