298  An ivory netsuke of Raiden/Fûten. Mid-19th century

            Running on billowing clouds and shouldering a bag from
            which emerges a swirl of air and with a drum attached to
            the ends of the bag. The nails of the drum of black horn,
            two nails missing.

            Running off with the stolen Buddhist reliquary (sharitô),
            which the guardian god Idaten was supposed to protect.

        300  A wood netsuke of an Enma-ô with two oni.
            Early 19th century
            The King of Hell lies on his right side holding a sceptre,
            head resting on his propped-up arm, while two frolicking
            oni sit around him. The eye pupils of horn.
            Inscribed Minko.
            Height 2.5 cm; length 5.3 cm
