Lying asleep with a smile, his head resting on his left
hand while the monkey behind him reaches for the
food basket.

The old monkey trainer has fallen asleep while
the little monkey in a sleeveless vest is nibbling
at a fruit.

425 A Tokyo school ivory shunga netsuke of a young
woman with a scroll, by Hakuunsai II.
Late 19th century
Looking up smiling, holding a scroll in her hands.
Her elaboratly coiffed black-stained hair adorned
with a glass pin. Her lips, the collar of her kimono
as well as the inside of her sleeves stained red.
Her spread out kimono reveals her pubic area.
Signed Hakuunsai.
