A TIANHUANG ‘RIVERSCAPE’ SEAL
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The irregularly-shaped seal is carved around the sides in low relief
with a continuous scene depicting a fisherman fishing on a raft
in a tranquil riverscape graced by trees, cliffs and a hut on the
embankment. The seal face is carved with an inscription alluding
to the Tang dynasty poet Bai Juyi’s leisurely pursuits.

QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The irregularly-shaped seal is carved in relief with a continuous
scene depicting figures in a boat sailing through a tranquil river
partially shielded by lush willow trees and rocks emerging from
the embankment. The seal face is carved with an eight-character
inscription.
