AN OPENWORK ALOESWOOD RUYI
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The sceptre is naturalistically carved in high relief and openwork
to imitate twisted lotus and sagittaria stems forming the elongated
S-shaped handle with a dragonfly and a snail resting on them and
terminated with an upturned blooming lotus flower, a bud, and a
seedpod as the ‘head’.
