                                                                              SONG DYNASTY OR EARLIER

                                                                              This group comprises three white plaques

                                                                              carved with foreigners playing instruments

                                                                              and one holding a rhinoceros horn cup;

                                                                              another slightly larger plaque of a greyish

                                                                              celadon tone is carved to one side with a

                                                                              seated figure wearing a billowing scarf; and

                                                                              another plaque of rounded form is carved

                                                                              to one side with a mythical beast.

                                                                              QING DYNASTY, 18TH-19TH CENTURY

                                                                              Of rectangular shape, the top of the stone
                                                                              is carved through the dark russet inclusion
                                                                              with a magpie perched on the branch of
                                                                              a flowering prunus tree. The stone is of a
                                                                              celadon tone with concentrated areas of
                                                                              russet inclusions.
