QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The brush rest is carved with a landscape
scene depicting four figures including
Shoulao and Budai resting at leisure amidst
pine trees and rocks.

TWO BAMBOO WRIST RESTS
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The plain wrist rest is gently arched with two
inscriptions on the narrow sides. The other wrist
rest is carved in the ‘liu qing’ technique, reserving
the skin of the bamboo, to depict a mountainous
landscape graced by dwellings, a stone bridge, and
towering pine and wutong trees. The upper left side
is inscribed with a poem, followed by the signature
Xihuang, and two square seals reading Xi and
Huang.
