LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY,
17TH CENTURY
The recumbent, horned mythical beasts
are shown facing each other with vapor
issuing from their mouths, that of the larger
beast supporting a book. The stone of pale
greenish-white color has opaque areas of
yellowish-brown color.

FIGURE OF ZHONGKUI
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
Zhongkui, the demon queller, is shown riding
a donkey while holding a pomegranate in his
left hand and a knife in his right, the donkey's
reins held by his demon attendant. The stone
is of pale greenish-white tone with opaque
mottling and added russet color.
