           A SILVER-INLAID BRONZE FLASK AND COVER, BIANHU
           Warring States Period
           The vessel of flattened oval form supported by a rectangular foot, the
           short neck rising to a gently flared mouth and a domed cover with
           three comma-shaped finials, a pair of taotie masks attached to the
           shoulders, inlaid on either side a tiger, a leopard, and a hound within
           an elaborate composition of geometric lines, the shoulders and sides
           similarly inlaid, the foot ring and mouth rim inlaid with classic cloud
           scrolls, the top of the cover inlaid with a 'tiger' medallion encircled
           by 'cloud' scrolls, the exterior polished to reveal the inlaid designs,
           the dark grey surface smooth and mottled with red cuprite and green
           malachite, the underside with a loop possibly attached to a small bell
           in ancient times.
