A massive famille rose baluster vase and cover
Qianlong
Finely enamelled with two phoenix atop rockwork in a fenced garden
with a blossoming magnolia tree, tree peony, aster and chrysanthemum,
the reverse with two butterflies in flight, the waisted neck and
shoulders with four four-lobed cartouches enclosing sepia pavilions in
a mountainous river landscape and four shaped cartouches enclosing
precious objects flanked by foliate blossoms framed by C-scrolls and
reserved on floral and honeycomb-diaper grounds with a border of
upright lappets above the foot, all between key-fret borders around
the galleried rim and spreading foot, the cover similarly decorated with
cartouches and surmounted by a grinning Buddhist lion, wood stand.
