soapstone figure of a seated luohan
18th century
The stone of alternate grey and ochre tones,
delicately carved as a luohan with shaved head
and elongated earlobes seated with his left
hand resting on his raised left knee, the right
hand supporting a scroll, the hem of the long
flowing robe set with two small beads of coral
alternating with three small emeralds.
