A gilt bronze figure of green Tara
16th/17th century
Cast seated in lalitasana, the gently smiling face surmounted by an
elaborate five-pointed Buddhist tiara above curling blue-painted
tresses falling over each shoulder, the body adorned with a diagonal
sash and floral jewellery, the left hand holding a lotus stem and
raised in kartari mudra, the right hand also with a lotus stem and
lowered over the right knee.
