A gilt-bronze figure of Manjusri
15th century
Seated on a double-lotus pedestal, the slender deity cast with a gently
swaying waist above the left bent and the right leg outstretched in
lalitasana, the left hand held up in vitarkamudra and the right hand
resting on the right knee in varadamudra, the breast with heavy
Buddhist jewellery and the face calmly downcast beneath a high
five-pointed crown.
