A large silver-gilt presentation bowl
Late 19th century, two-character ‘Yu’ ji, Shanghai and Zeewo marks
The sides formed as six lobed petals, one enclosing a blank shield ready
for inscription and surrounded by a garden scene of a scholar taking
tea on a terrace while three boys variously sweep, tend plants and
watch from a balcony, four panels with bird and flower scenes including
bamboo, peony, prunus and tree peony, the final panel with another
figural scene of three scholars drinking tea in a garden, all raised on a
circular stepped foot.
