A fine silver urn-shaped presentation vase and cover
19th century, two-character Kunhe marks and W.H. for Wang Hing
The vase finely cast and chased on the body with a continuous
scene of generals on horseback fighting with spears, swords and
axes surrounded by attendant foot soldiers variously waving flags
or other weapons, a cartouche for a dedicatory inscription left
uninscribed between two handles shaped as twisted flowering
orchid stems, all above a band of flowering iris growing from
a river above the stepped foot with a narrow band containing
chrysanthemum, peony and aster, and a similar band at the rim, the
cover with a band of scrolling peony blossoms surrounding a raised
medallion with cloud scrolls surmounted by an arching four-clawed
dragon forming the finial.
Overall 46.4cm (18¼in) high (2).
