Framed horizontal scroll, ink on paper, inscribed by the artist with a date of guihai (1923) signed
Anji Wu Changshuo with two artist’s seals, and three collector’s seals, one reading Jietuochang
belonging to Hu Huichun (J.M. Hu, 1911-1995).

Acquired by Dr. J. T. Lou (陸潤之), Hong Kong, and thence by descent
The four character inscription reads 龢(和)以天倪 and has been translated by Burton Watson as
“harmonize things in the Heavenly Equality”. The phrase appears in on several occasions in the
philosophical collection Zhuangzi, in Chapter 27.
