Pu Xian, who used the artist’s name Yizhai,
was a member of the Manchu Imperial clan.
Together with his brothers Pu Jin (1893-1966),
Pu Quan (1913-1991), and Pu Zuo (1918-2001),
and cousin Pu Ru (1896-1963), continued
painting traditional Chinese painting styles into
the 20th century. In this example he cites Song
dynasty painting as his inspiration.
