梁伯譽 春滿杏林 設色纸本 鏡框
The title of the painting, “春滿杏林”, refers to an ancient Chinese legend which describes the tale
of a particularly virtuous and beloved doctor, a fitting theme for an artwork created in honor of the
original owner, a renowned ophthalmologist.
Provenance:
Acquired directly from the artist by Dr. J. T. Lou (陸潤之), Hong Kong, and thence by descent
Originally from Shunde in Guangzhou province, Liang Boyu (Leung Pak-yu) first studied painting
with Li Yaobing (1888-1938). Relocating to Hong Kong in 1932, Liang Boyu opened his own artist’s
studio and served as the executive director of the Hong Kong Chinese Art Club.
