QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY A YELLOW-GROUND BLUE AND
The cover is decorated with a composite floral WHITE ‘LOTUS’ JARLET
scroll centering a lotus bloom, the design YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER
repeated on the sides of the box. The base MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE
of the box is inscribed with an apocryphal WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF
Xuande four-character mark in a double THE PERIOD (1723-1735)
circle. Painted in cobalt blue with meandering
6¡ in. (16.3 cm.) diam. scrollwork of lotus and foliage under bands
